How AEPEP Works?

AEPEP is a heat engine. It operates on exactly the same thermodynamic principles that underpin every coal, gas, and nuclear power station on Earth exploiting a temperature difference to produce useful work. The difference is the source: in AEPEP, the hot side is the ambient atmosphere, continuously warmed by the sun, and the cold side is a cryogenic working fluid carried aboard the aircraft.

The Four-Stage AEPEP Cycle

01

HEAT ABSORPTION

The cryogenic working fluid circulates through heat exchange surfaces on the aircraft, absorbing thermal energy from the surrounding atmosphere. The fluid transitions from liquid to gas, absorbing latent heat in the process.

02

POWER GENERATION

The now-gaseous working fluid drives expansion turbines, generating continuous electrical power to drive the aircraft's propulsion system.

03

CONDENSATION (VECC)

A proprietary Vector Cancelling Condenser (VECC) rapidly converts the gas back to liquid at condensation rates orders of magnitude above conventional systems. This is the core innovation.

04

RECIRCULATION

The reliquefied working fluid returns to the heat exchange surfaces and the cycle repeats continuously, with no fuel input required.

The Breakthrough: Vector Cancelling Condenser (VECC)

The condensation problem is why nobody has done this before.

Conventional condensers are too large, too heavy, and too slow to operate within the mass and power budgets of an aircraft. The VECC technology developed by Entropy Engines Limited achieves condensation rates orders of magnitude above conventional systems in a compact, lightweight, flight-ready device.

The specific engineering mechanisms of the VECC constitute the primary intellectual property of Entropy Engines Limited and are disclosed only under NDA.

Bonus Effect: Enhanced Lift & Reduced Drag

Because the cryogenic working fluid circulates through wing surfaces, the upper wing surface is cooled substantially below ambient temperature. Cold air is denser. The result:

18–26%

Lift Coefficient Enhancement

28–36%

Induced Drag Reduction

Standing on Proven Science

OTEC (Ocean Thermal)

Demonstrated since the 1930s. Generates electricity from temperature differences in ocean water. AEPEP applies the same principle but with a 200K differential vs OTEC's 20–25K, giving 10× greater theoretical efficiency.

LAES (Liquid Air Energy)

Proven grid-scale storage technology (Highview Power/Sumitomo, UK). Uses the same liquid air working fluid and expansion physics as AEPEP. AEPEP closes the thermodynamic loop to make it a continuous generator.

Cranfield University

Cranfield has conducted an independent techno-economic assessment of the VECC condensation technology using industry-standard Aspen Plus process simulation. This validates the core thermodynamic cycle
